We are looking for a Laboratory Assistant (Phlebotomist) with the 23rd Street Lab at St. Joseph Heritage Healthcare.

Location: Eureka, CA

Work Schedule: Part time - 4 biweekly hours

Shift: 8 Hour - Day shift

Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of a CLS, this position processes clinical specimens for analysis and assists the CLS in the operation of laboratory analyzers. Other duties include processing laboratory orders, performing phlebotomy and assisting with other aspects of the laboratory functions.

  • Requires basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, an e-mail system and data entry.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology required.
  • Possess a high level of customer service skills with a genuine caring approach to helping people.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude with changing conditions.
  • Possess good organizational abilities.
  • Possess good written and verbal communications skills to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work under general supervision.
  • Possess a professional and mature demeanor.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced department and handle multiple tasks, work with interruptions, and deal effectively with confidential information
Minimum Position Qualifications:
  • H.S. Diploma or GED
  • Coursework/Training - Completion of an accredited training program for phlebotomy
Experience: 3 Phlebotomy experiences

Licenses and Certifications
  • Current California Phlebotomy License (CPT-1).
  • Current BLS (CPR) card
Preferred Position Qualifications:
  • 4 years Phlebotomy experience.
  • Experience as a lab assistant in a clinical laboratory
