- Stocks and checks supplies and equipment daily. Removes outdated, damaged, and/or defective supplies and equipment on a timely basis and disposes of, as needed, following departmental procedures. Sees that all departments receive supplies in a timely and efficient manner.
- Requisitions supplies and equipment from warehouse area accurately and in a timely manner. Maintains adequate department stock levels, which minimize stock outs and ensures efficient turnover ratio.
- Ensures that nursing and ancillary services receive equipment that is in good working order and properly decontaminated.
- Keeps the distribution, supply, and clean/dirty equipment rooms clean and orderly at all times. Removes and breaks down boxes daily.
- Rotates appropriate supplies to ensure First In First Out (F.I.S.H.) and follow policies to avoid expired product.
- Restocks crash carts, emergency trays and-issues to appropriate departments promptly and according to policy.
- Receives and reviews requisitions from users' department and accurately fills orders in a timely manner. Accurately processes records according to departmental procedures.
- Performs cleaning duties such as cleaning and decontaminating equipment, facilities, furnishings and work areas. Reports malfunctioning of defective equipment and supplies to supervisor.
- Performs clerical duties such as answering telephones, handling and filing routine correspondence, maintaining supply records, collecting statistics and preparing reports using computer system as directed by supervisor.
- Stays current on all materials information systems and maximizes use according to policy.
- Performs year end physical inventory and routine cycle counts according to policy.
- Assists Materials Management team with inventory variances as needed between warehouse and Central Supply.
- Ensures all stock is put away daily.
- Participates in all department performance improvement initiatives and maintains regulatory compliance.

St. Mary Medical Center (SMMC) is an acute care hospital with 213 beds and over 1,750 employees making it one of the region's largest employers serving communities of the High Desert. The facility was constructed in 1956 and joined the St. Joseph Health System in 1992.
This facility has the only Neonatal Care Unit in the High Desert Accredited by California Children Services and has been granted approval as a Special Hospital with the California Children's Services Community Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. St. Mary was accredited as a primary Stroke Receiving Center in 2018, the only stroke-receiving center in the High Desert.
